Weekly 45 minute family music classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Emphasis is on parent modelling, creative play and executive function building through music-making.
We sing, dance and make music together and allow the children to experience live music-making and choose how they will learn.
Tuition includes a songbook, a guidebook, a growth chart and a cd and access code to download the song collections. 9 song collections in total, we change every semester. Every song collection has a rich musical background with varied tonalities and rhythms. As music is a language, it should take around 4 years to master, granted the child is exposed to a rich musical environment and is allowed to experiment without judgment consistently over time. The learning keeps going at home between classes, because families can include music-making in their daily activities.
Classes are social in nature, helping children learn the skills of both music-making and being in a classroom setting.
We use instruments, our bodies and voices to bring children (and some adults who are still learning!) to Basic Music Competence, which is to sing in tune, find and hold the beat in a song, and engage fully in the music of their culture.
